Hainantoxin-III

Ion Channel Inhibitor

Hainantoxin-III is a potent ion channel inhibitor that targets voltage-gated sodium channels. It effectively inhibits both tetrodotoxin-sensitive and tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium currents in rat dorsal root ganglion neurons, with IC50 values of 27.6 nM and 30.2 nM, respectively. Hainantoxin-III also demonstrates inhibitory action on potassium currents in Xenopus laevis oocytes, exhibiting an IC50 value of 604.2 nM. This compound is valuable for investigating the role of ion channels in neuronal excitability and for exploring potential therapeutic applications in pain and neurophysiology research.
