Harmalol hydrochloride

Cytochrome P453 Substrate

Harmalol hydrochloride is a beta carboline alkaloid that serves as a substrate for cytochrome P450 enzymes. It notably inhibits the dioxin-mediated induction of CYP1A1, affecting both transcriptional and posttranslational processes. Additionally, Harmalol hydrochloride demonstrates antioxidant activity and effectively scavenges hydroxyl radicals, making it a valuable reagent for studies involving oxidative stress and enzyme regulation.
