Harzianic acid

AHAS Inhibitor

Harzianic acid is a selective inhibitor of Acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS), the key enzyme in the branched-chain amino acid biosynthetic pathway. This tetramic acid derivative exhibits significant antimicrobial properties, including the ability to inhibit biofilm formation and promote biofilm disaggregation by limiting bacterial iron availability. Harzianic acid has potential applications in agricultural research as a herbicide and fungicide.
