Hemiacetylcarnitinium chloride

CPT I Inhibitor

Hemiacetylcarnitinium chloride is a selective inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT I), a key enzyme in fatty acid metabolism. By interrupting the conversion of fatty acyl-CoA to fatty acyl carnitine, this compound effectively reduces the oxidation of long-chain fatty acids and subsequently decreases ATP production for energy-dependent cellular processes. It is a valuable tool for research focused on the regulatory mechanisms of fatty acid metabolism and related metabolic disorders.
