Heptaminol

Anti-hypotensive Agent

Heptaminol is a fatty amine recognized for its anti-hypotensive properties. It acts primarily as a competitive inhibitor of norepinephrine uptake and inhibits nicotine-induced catecholamine release (IC50: 650 μM). Notably, Heptaminol does not inhibit norepinephrine release triggered by elevated potassium concentrations (59 mM K+), but rather selectively targets high-affinity Na+-dependent norepinephrine uptake. This distinctive mechanism of action makes Heptaminol valuable for research into cardiovascular function and the modulation of blood pressure.
