Hibifolin

ADA Inhibitor

Hibifolin is a flavonol glycoside known for its inhibitory action on adenosine deaminase (ADA), with a Ki value of 49.92 μM. It demonstrates neuroprotective properties against β-amyloid-induced neurotoxicity, effectively preventing cell death by blocking Aβ-induced caspase-3 and caspase-7 activation. Additionally, Hibifolin induces Akt phosphorylation in cortical neurons and serves as a natural sortase A (SrtA) inhibitor, exhibiting an IC50 of 31.2 μM. Its antibacterial activities include the attenuation of Staphylococcus aureus pathogenic behaviors, such as adhesion, invasion, and biofilm formation, while also enhancing survival rates in pneumonia models in mice and alleviating associated pathological damages.
