Hyaluronate lyase

Lyase

Hyaluronate lyase is an enzyme that functions as a lyase, catalyzing the cleavage of hyaluronate (HA) through a β-elimination reaction to yield unsaturated disaccharides. These disaccharides play a crucial role in triggering downstream signaling pathways and facilitating subsequent biochemical reactions. The activity of hyaluronate lyase is important for Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis (SDSE) as it enhances nutrient acquisition from the host, contributing to the bacterium's pathogenic potential. This enzyme is valuable for studies focused on bacterial pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions.
