Hydroxylamine hydrochloride

MAO Inhibitor

Hydroxylamine hydrochloride functions as a selective inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO), playing a significant role in the regulation of platelet aggregation. This compound serves as an important intermediate in the nitrogen cycle, particularly among aerobic ammonium-oxidizing microorganisms, including ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and complete ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (comammox). Hydroxylamine hydrochloride also influences nitrogen oxide and nitrous oxide emissions from these microorganisms while simultaneously inhibiting the activity of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB). Its applications extend to research in microbial ecology and nitrogen cycling processes.
