Hypoxystat

Hypoxia Mimetic

Hypoxystat is an orally active hypoxia mimetic that enhances hemoglobin's oxygen affinity, thereby limiting oxygen release to tissues and inducing localized hypoxia. Its biological activities include a reduction in Iba1+ cells and the ability to cause systemic hypoxia. Hypoxystat has demonstrated efficacy in addressing hyperglycemia in mouse models of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it extends lifespan and mitigates neuropathological and behavioral deficits in a prominent mouse model of Leigh syndrome, making it a valuable tool for research in metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
