Hypusine

Amino Acid

Hypusine is a natural amino acid formed through a unique post-translational modification that is primarily catalyzed by deoxyhypusine synthase (DHPS) and deoxyhypusine hydroxylase (DOHH). This modification is essential for the activation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A), which is involved in cellular proliferation and differentiation. Due to its critical role in protein synthesis and various signaling pathways, hypusine is valuable for research applications related to cancer biology, neurobiology, and cellular stress responses.
