Iduronate sulfatase

Iduronate Sulfatase

Iduronate sulfatase is an exo-sulfatase that specifically hydrolyzes the C2-sulfate ester bond from non-reducing terminal α-L-iduronic acid residues in heparan sulfate. This enzyme plays a crucial role in the degradation of glycosaminoglycans and is essential for the proper catabolism of heparan sulfate. It is widely utilized in biochemical research to investigate lysosomal storage disorders and the biological pathways involving glycosaminoglycan metabolism.
