iGP-1

mGPDH Inhibitor

iGP-1 is a selective mixed inhibitor of mitochondrial sn-glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (mGPDH) that exhibits IC50 values of 6.3 μM and 13.6 μM for rat mGPDH activity and hydrogen peroxide production, respectively. This compound selectively inhibits the mitochondrial aspect of the glycerophosphate shuttle while leaving cytosolic GPDH unaffected. iGP-1 has demonstrated the ability to inhibit cell proliferation, enhance glycolysis, and alter critical cellular processes, including apoptosis and reactive oxygen species production. It remains effective in neutrophil cultures under both normoxic and hypoxic conditions, making it a valuable tool for investigating glycerol-3-phosphate metabolic pathways in cancer research, particularly in prostate cancer studies.
