Incadronate disodium

Cholesterol-Lowering Agent

Incadronate disodium is a bisphosphonate that serves as a cholesterol-lowering agent by inhibiting rat liver microsomal squalene synthase with a Ki of 57 nM. It also has demonstrated the ability to suppress sterol biosynthesis in mouse macrophage J774 cells, exhibiting an IC50 of 64 μM. Additionally, this compound may have potential applications in the research of malignant tumors through its indirect stimulation of renal 25-hydroxyvitamin D-1-hydroxylase by elevating circulating parathyroid hormone.
