Indican

Indoxyl Glycoside

Indican (Indoxyl-β-D-glucoside) is a glycoside precursor of the dyes indigo and indirubin. Upon metabolism, it generates indoxyl sulfate, a known uremic toxin that serves as a substrate and inhibitor of organic anion transporters OAT1 and OAT3, along with multidrug resistance-associated protein MRP4. This compound is critical for researching metabolic pathways in kidney function and the role of uremic toxins in renal diseases.
