IPA

Sec18/NSF Inhibitor

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) acts as a specific inhibitor of Sec18/NSF, effectively binding to phosphatidic acid in a competitive manner. This interaction induces conformational rigidity in Sec18/NSF, impairing its necessary flexibility, which subsequently disrupts SNARE priming and vacuolar membrane fusion. IPA is instrumental for research applications focused on the dynamics of Sec18 activity and the kinetics of SNARE priming.
