Ipomoeassin F

ER Protein-Translocation Inhibitor

Ipomoeassin F is a potent and selective inhibitor of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein translocation, acting by targeting the pore-forming subunit Sec61α of the Sec61 complex at the ER membrane. This compound effectively inhibits the ER membrane translocation of SARS-CoV-2 proteins, making it a valuable tool in virology research. Additionally, Ipomoeassin F obstructs the translocation of secretory proteins and type I transmembrane proteins while leaving type III transmembrane proteins unaffected, allowing for nuanced studies of protein transport mechanisms.
