Itruvone

Antidepressant

Itruvone is an intermediate of 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) formed during Fenton oxidation. It exhibits notable antidepressant activity, making it a valuable compound in neuropharmacological research. Additionally, Itruvone serves as a click chemistry reagent, featuring an alkyne group that facilitates copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) reactions with azide-containing molecules. This dual functionality enhances its application in both biological and synthetic chemistry studies.
