Jacaric acid
Anticancer Agent
Jacaric acid is a conjugated linolenic acid that functions as an anticancer agent, primarily targeting prostate cancer and adenocarcinoma. It inhibits cell viability in PC-3 and LNCaP cells with IC50 values of 11.8 μM and 2.2 μM, respectively, while also inducing apoptosis and necrosis. Additionally, jacaric acid demonstrates immunomodulatory effects as an immunopotentiator in murine peritoneal macrophages. This compound is orally active, making it suitable for various biological research applications.
