Broad-Spectrum Anticonvulsant
JNJ-26489112 is a broad-spectrum anticonvulsant that acts primarily by inhibiting voltage-gated Na+ channels and N-type Ca2+ channels while functioning as a K+ channel opener. This compound demonstrates significant anticonvulsant activity in various rodent models of seizures, including audiogenic, electrically-induced, and chemically-induced seizures. Although it shows minimal inhibition of carbonic anhydrase isoforms CA-II and CA-I, its primary applications lie within neurological research, specifically in the study of seizure disorders.
