Kainic acid

Neuroexcitatory Amino Acid Agonist

Kainic acid is a potent neuroexcitatory amino acid agonist that primarily targets ionotropic glutamate receptors. Its excitotoxic properties make it a valuable tool in neuroscience research, particularly in the study of seizure models and neurodegenerative disorders. By inducing seizures, kainic acid facilitates the investigation of cellular mechanisms underlying excitotoxicity and neuronal injury.
