Karrikin 2

Seed Germination Stimulant

Karrikin 2 is a seed germination stimulant that activates germination processes in various species, including Arabidopsis thaliana, lettuce, E. penduliflora, and S. orbiculatum, through its chemical presence in smoke from the combustion of plants. This compound enhances the expression of gibberellin biosynthesis genes, specifically GA3ox1 and GA3ox2, as well as the gibberellin-responsive gene CP1 in Arabidopsis thaliana seeds. Karrikin 2 is valuable for research focused on plant development, seed biology, and ecological responses to fire.
