L 741742 hydrochloride is a highly selective antagonist of the human D4 dopamine receptor, exhibiting a Ki value of 3.5 nM for the D4 receptor while demonstrating much lower affinity for D3 and D2 receptors. This compound disrupts signaling pathways associated with PDGFRβ, ERK1/2, and mTOR, and impairs autophagic processes by affecting lysosomal function. Biologically, it induces G0/G1 cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in various cell types and promotes neuronal differentiation in human neural stem cells.
