Lactic acid

Glycolysis Production

Lactic acid (DL-Lactic acid) primarily functions as an activator of hydroxycarboxylic acid receptor 1 (HCAR1) and serves as an epigenetic modulator through the lactylation of lysine residues. As a key end-product of glycolysis, lactic acid facilitates the transition between glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation. Additionally, it plays a role as an oncometabolite with potential implications in enhancing anti-tumor immunity. Lactic acid also exhibits antimicrobial properties, making it suitable for use as a food preservative and in various research applications focused on metabolism and immunity.
