Legubicin
Anti-cancer Agent
Legubicin is a targeted anti-cancer agent comprising doxorubicin linked to a Legumain-cleavable peptide. This compound is selectively activated by Legumain, allowing for the release of leucine-doxorubicin while minimizing effects on normal tissues. Legubicin effectively inhibits tumor cell proliferation and decreases DNA binding in cells that do not express Legumain. In preclinical models, Legubicin has demonstrated complete tumor growth arrest in mice with CT26 tumors, making it a valuable tool for investigating colon carcinoma (CRC).
