Lilial

Fragrance

Lilial, a synthetic fragrance compound, exhibits estrogenic activity in vitro. It is known to induce mitochondrial toxicity, leading to reduced viability in HaCaT cells, while also increasing NRF2 protein levels. Additionally, Lilial targets respiratory chain complexes, inhibiting complexes I and II of the electron transport chain, resulting in enhanced reactive oxygen species generation and diminished intracellular ATP levels. Furthermore, Lilial has demonstrated the potential to induce systemic toxicity in vivo and is capable of causing significant DNA strand breaks, making it relevant for studies in toxicology and cellular stress response.
