Lobaric acid

TMV Inhibitor

Lobaric acid is a depsipeptide metabolite that functions as an inhibitor of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). This compound exhibits significant antioxidant, antiproliferative, and enzyme inhibitory properties, demonstrating an IC50 of 97.9 μM in scavenging superoxide free radicals and an EC50 range of 15.2-63.9 μg/mL in inhibiting cancer cell proliferation across various types, including leukemia and solid tumors. Furthermore, Lobaric acid effectively inhibits protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) with an IC50 of 0.87 μM and reduces the production of 12(S)-HETE by 12(S)-lipoxygenase (IC50=28.5 μM), highlighting its broad potential for research in cancer and virology.
