Lofepramine

Tricyclic Antidepressant

Lofepramine is a tricyclic antidepressant that primarily inhibits the reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin, with IC50 values of 2.7 μM and 11 μM, respectively. Its mechanism promotes noradrenergic neurotransmission, enhancing serotonergic activity by preventing the uptake of serotonin and modulating tryptophan pyrrolase. Lofepramine also displays notable anxiolytic properties, making it valuable in the study of mood disorders and anxiety-related conditions. This compound is suitable for research applications focusing on the pharmacological mechanisms of antidepressants.
