Lubeluzole

Anti-ischemic Agent

Lubeluzole is an S-isomer of a benzothiazole derivative that acts as an anti-ischemic agent. It inhibits glutamate release and glutamate-activated nitric oxide synthesis while blocking voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels. Lubeluzole demonstrates neuroprotective and anti-ischemic effects, and has also shown potential in inhibiting the proliferation and invasion of cancer cells, as well as exhibiting chemosensitizing properties. Additionally, its antibacterial and anti-diarrheal activities make it relevant for research in cancer, infectious diseases, and neurological and cardiovascular disorders, including stroke and infectious diarrhea.
