Mal-PEG-OH (MW 5000) serves as a macroinitiator for the synthesis of amphiphilic diblock copolymers via ring-opening polymerization of lactide. These copolymers facilitate the formation of nanoparticles that are employed in active drug delivery systems. Notably, nanoparticles utilizing Mal-PEG-OH can encapsulate Triptolide, addressing its poor water solubility and potentially mitigating its toxicity in therapeutic applications.
