Mambalgin 1

Toxin

Mambalgin 1 is a toxin derived from the venom of the black mamba, featuring a disulfide-rich structure of 57 amino acids. This polypeptide belongs to the three-finger toxin family and exhibits high-affinity binding to acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), stabilizing them in a physiologically relevant closed-state conformation. Mambalgin 1's ability to modulate ASIC activity makes it a valuable tool for research in pain pathways and neurobiology.
