Melatonin-d3 is a deuterium-labeled form of melatonin, a hormone produced by the pineal gland that activates melatonin receptors. This compound is known for its critical role in regulating sleep and exhibits significant antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, melatonin functions as a selective ATF-6 inhibitor, inducing apoptosis in human hepatoma cells through COX-2 downregulation. It also mitigates palmitic acid-induced apoptosis in mouse granulosa cells via endoplasmic reticulum stress mechanisms, making it valuable for research in cellular signaling and metabolic disorders.
