BBOX1/OCTN2 Inhibitor
Meldonium dihydrate is a competitive inhibitor of γ-butyrobetaine hydroxylase (BBOX1) and carnitine/organic cation transporter type 2 (OCTN2). It serves as a cardioprotective agent by inhibiting fatty acid oxidation, thereby promoting energy metabolism under stress conditions. This compound demonstrates IC50 values ranging from 34 to 62 μM for human recombinant BBOX1 and an EC50 of 21 μM for OCTN2, making it valuable for research applications in cardiovascular health and metabolic disorders.
