Methoxamine

α1-Adrenoceptor Agonist

Methoxamine is a selective α1-adrenoceptor agonist that mediates vasoconstriction and enhances peripheral vascular resistance. This compound is pertinent in cardiovascular research, as it facilitates the overflow of ATP, ADP, and AMP in the rabbit pulmonary artery through a prazosin-sensitive mechanism, while not affecting adenosine levels. Methoxamine is valuable for studies investigating adrenergic signaling and vascular tone regulation.
