Mexiprostil

Gastric Protectant

Mexiprostil is a synthetic analogue of Prostaglandin E1 that functions as an orally active gastric protectant. It demonstrates significant inhibition of gastric acid secretion induced by histamine and bethanechol in various animal models, including rats, dogs, and cats. Additionally, Mexiprostil can suppress the increase in gastric acid secretion elicited by pentagastrin in cats, although this effect is not observed in dogs and rats. This compound is suitable for investigating mechanisms related to gastric ulcers and their treatment.
