Mitoguazone

S-adenosyl-methionine Decarboxylase Inhibitor

Mitoguazone, a competitive inhibitor of S-adenosyl-methionine decarboxylase, exhibits significant antineoplastic properties through the disruption of polyamine biosynthesis. This brain-penetrant synthetic polycarbonyl derivative induces apoptosis in cancer cells and demonstrates inhibitory effects on HIV DNA integration in both monocytes and macrophages. Mitoguazone is a candidate for research applications related to acute leukemia and both Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma treatment.
