CNS Myelin Component
MOG (35-55) is a peptide derived from the Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein that targets central nervous system (CNS) myelin components. This peptide exhibits encephalitogenic properties, effectively inducing T cell proliferation and promoting a Th1 cytokine response, along with elevated levels of IgG antibodies. MOG (35-55) is instrumental in modeling experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a condition characterized by relapsing-remitting neurological disease and significant plaque-like demyelination. Its application is critical for understanding demyelinating disorders in research settings.
