Monascuspiloin

Anti-Androgenic Agent

Monascuspiloin, an anti-androgenic agent, demonstrates potent activity with an IC50 of 7 μM. It reduces viability in prostate cancer cell lines PC-3 and LNCaP, with IC50 values of 45 μM and 47 μM, respectively. Monascuspiloin induces apoptosis in LNCaP cells by inhibiting the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, promotes autophagy through AMPK activation, and causes G2/M cell cycle arrest in PC-3 cells. Additionally, Monascuspiloin displays antitumor efficacy in murine models, making it a valuable tool for cancer research.
