MTL-005

Boron-containing Radiosensitizer

MTL-005 is a boron-containing radiosensitizer that enhances the efficacy of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). By selectively enriching tumor tissues with the boron-10 isotope, MTL-005 facilitates nuclear fission when exposed to thermal neutron irradiation, resulting in the targeted release of high linear energy transfer (LET) α particles and lithium ions that effectively destroy tumor cells while sparing adjacent healthy tissues. Research has demonstrated that MTL-005 significantly controls tumor progression in the SCCVII squamous cell carcinoma model, leading to prolonged survival rates in the treated subjects. This reagent is valuable for investigating solid tumors, including head and neck cancers.
