Mycothiazole

ETC Inhibitor

Mycothiazole is a potent inhibitor of mitochondrial electron transport chain complex I, demonstrating significant cytotoxic effects in various cancer cell lines, including Huh7 (IC50 = 55.8 μM), U87, and MCF7. In Huh7 cells, Mycothiazole induces apoptosis and activates the unfolded protein response (UPR) and heat shock response (HSR) pathways via transcription factors ATFS-1 and HSF1. This compound is valuable for research applications focused on cancer biology, mitochondrial dysfunction, and the study of cellular stress responses.
