N4Py
Metal Ion Ligand
N4Py is a pentadentate ligand that serves as a robust metal ion chelator, effectively forming stable complexes with various metal ions including iron, platinum, and copper. It mimics the metal-binding domains of iron-dependent antibiotics, such as Bleomycin, facilitating the formation of DNA-cleaving FeII-N4Py complexes that generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). This capability results in oxidative damage to cells, making N4Py a valuable tool in cancer research and studies focused on oxidative stress mechanisms.
