Nafazatrom

Cardioprotective Agent

Nafazatrom is an orally active cardioprotective agent primarily targeting neutrophil function. It exhibits dose-dependent inhibition of neutrophil aggregation, superoxide anion production, and arachidonic acid metabolism, contributing to its cardioprotective effects. In preclinical studies, Nafazatrom (10 mg/kg, po) significantly reduced infarct size and arrhythmias in a dog ischemia-reperfusion model, while preserving myocardial function without impacting hemodynamics. This compound is valuable for research applications focused on ischemic heart disease and the mechanisms underlying cardiac injury and recovery.
