Nafenodone

Antidepressant

Nafenodone is an antidepressant compound primarily targeting serotonin reuptake inhibition, leading to enhanced serotonergic neurotransmission. It has been shown to reduce the frequency and amplitude of smooth muscle contractions while prolonging the recovery time of the sinus node. Nafenodone effectively inhibits spontaneous mechanical activity in rat portal vein segments, with an IC50 of 1.4 μM, and can relax contractions induced by high potassium and noradrenaline. This compound is valuable for research into mood disorders and vascular smooth muscle function.
