NCAO

ODC Inhibitor

N-ω-chloroacetyl-L-ornithine (NCAO) functions as a potent reversible competitive inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC). This compound demonstrates significant cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity across various tumor cell lines, with effective concentrations (EC50) ranging from 1 to 50.6 µM. NCAO induces apoptosis in tumor cells and inhibits their migration in vitro. Additionally, it displays strong antitumor effects in vivo, notably against both solid and ascitic tumors in a mouse model utilizing the myeloma (Ag8) cell line, making it a valuable candidate for research into novel antitumor agents.
