Nefazodone
Phenylpiperazine Antidepressant
Nefazodone is an orally active phenylpiperazine antidepressant that primarily targets and potently blocks postsynaptic 5-HT2A receptors. Additionally, it moderately inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline, contributing to its antidepressant effects. Nefazodone has also been shown to mitigate stress-induced immune system impairment in murine models. Its high affinity for the CYP3A4 isoenzyme suggests potential for drug-drug interactions, warranting consideration in co-administration scenarios.
