NEPP11
Neuroprotective Agent
NEPP11 is a cyclopentenone prostaglandin analogue that functions as a neuroprotective agent. It effectively inhibits glutamate-induced cytotoxicity in HT22 cells derived from mouse hippocampus and mitigates manganese-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells. By activating the Nrf2 pathway and preserving MEK1/2 and ERK1/2 signaling through the inhibition of c-Raf downregulation, NEPP11 demonstrates significant neuroprotective effects in experimental models, including a mouse model of focal cerebral ischemia induced by permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion.
