Norbixin

Carotenoid

Norbixin is a carotenoid known for its ability to bind to peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) with a Ki of 1.15 μM. Investigations have demonstrated its efficacy in attenuating hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and insulin resistance in a rat model of cardio-metabolic syndrome. Additionally, norbixin plays a role in decreasing serum lipid levels and reducing cardiac levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and glutathione (GSH), making it a valuable reagent for research in metabolic health and related disorders.
