ω-Agatoxin TK

P/Q Type Ca2+ Channel Blocker

ω-Agatoxin TK is a peptidyl toxin derived from the venom of Agelenopsis aperta, which selectively inhibits P/Q type Ca2+ channels. This compound effectively blocks high potassium-induced calcium influx in cerebral isolated nerve endings, exhibiting an IC50 of 60 nM. ω-Agatoxin TK demonstrates no influence on L-type, N-type, or T-type calcium channels, making it a valuable tool for studying calcium channel physiology and neurotransmitter release mechanisms.
