It is characterized by the absence of a positively charged amino moiety, which results in a lack of significant antibacterial activity. Additionally, Oasomycin B does not induce Orsellinic acid production in Aspergillus nidulans, making it a valuable tool for studying the biosynthetic pathways of polyketides and their related metabolites in microbial systems.
