Olezarsen sodium

APOC3 Inhibitor

Olezarsen sodium is an APOC3 inhibitor that functions as a GalNAc-modified antisense oligonucleotide. It binds to APOC3 mRNA, leading to its degradation through ribonuclease H1-mediated sense strand cleavage, which decreases the hepatic synthesis of apolipoprotein C-III. This mechanism results in the reduction of plasma triglycerides, apolipoprotein B, and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Olezarsen sodium is valuable for research into familial chylomicronemia syndrome, hypertriglyceridemia, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
