Olezarsen
Antisense Oligonucleotides
Olezarsen is a GalNAc-modified antisense oligonucleotide that specifically targets APOC3 mRNA. By inducing degradation of this mRNA through ribonuclease H1-mediated cleavage, Olezarsen effectively decreases the synthesis of hepatic apolipoprotein C-III (apoC-III). This compound has demonstrated efficacy in reducing levels of plasma triglycerides, apolipoprotein B, and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Olezarsen is relevant for research focused on familial chylomicronemia syndrome, hypertriglyceridemia, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
